Arsenal Champions League Squad

Arsenal have officially announced their squad for this season’s Champions League. Manager Arsene Wenger has included 17-year-old Jeff Reine-Adelaide in the 25-man team, a surprising addition.

The teenage midfielder joined the club from Lens in the summer and could make his European debut for the Gunners as early as this month.

Champions League clubs were allowed to name a maximum of 25 players on their ‘A’ list. They are also allowed to register players onto their ‘B’ list – Arsenal named 7.

According to the UEFA website: “A player may be registered on List B if he is born on or after 1 January 1994 and has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years since his 15th birthday by the time he is registered with UEFA.” [Sky Sports]

As such, Reine-Adelaide was ineligible for the ‘B’ list as he has only recently moved to Arsenal while 20-year-old Hector Bellerin, who has become a regular starter at the Emirates, has been included on that list. There was a surprise inclusion in the squad in the shape of Joel Campbell. The Costa Rican has had questions surrounding his future all summer long, but the forward looks like he could play a part.

Arsenal face a tough group this time around, they will meet German champions Bayern Munich, Olympiacos and Dinamo Zagreb in Group F.
