Arsenal Brace Themselves For Two More Departures

The Gunners might have to part ways with at least one of their most important players from last season. Santi Cazorla seems to have made Atletico’s wanted list since the Spanish side have lost some key players this summer. Arsenal’s midfielder might be joined by fellow compatriot, Nacho Monreal who has not really adapted to the rigors of Premier League football. The left-back is expected to leave for Madrid in order to replace Filipe Luis who recently joined Chelsea.

Cazorla has enjoyed relative success as a Gunner while Monreal has had more inconsistent performances. The defender has been rarely used and seemed overwhelmed by the toughness of English football. Even though he was brought in to become a team regular, he failed to win his battle with Kieran Gibbs, who despite dealing with several severe injuries, has always managed to come back.

Atletico have placed Monreal on top of their list. The fact that he came to Arsenal from Malaga is definitely something that the Spaniards considered before turning him into their main summer target. According to the Telegraph, Wenger could agree to let the left-back go especially considering his relatively high salary.

Cazorla may also now have trouble making the starting Arsenal line-up, especially with all of the Gunners’ players being fit. Add to that the fact that Sanchez just moved to the Emirates and you will understand why the Wenger could say yes to a decent bid for the attacking midfielder.

Atletico could really use Cazorla since Costa and Diego have left the club. Even though he plays a different position, he would bring speed to Madrid’s game and would fit Simeone’s approach.
