Alexis Sanchez’s Swansea Outburst Was No Big Deal According To Wenger

Everyone saw how unhappy Sanchez was after being replaced by Danny Welbeck during the Swansea game. It is difficult to figure out what he was thinking this weekend but knowing how passionate he is and how much he cares about every game he plays for club or country it should not be a big surprise that he reacted so strongly.

As you would expect there was a great deal of reaction on the internet but the Arsenal boss seems to be pretty philosophical about it. Here is Wenger’s take on all of this as reported by Sky Sports:

“Looking at the game tonight, that is really minor, minor, minor. All players are frustrated when they come off – some show it, some don’t. I am long enough in the job to know that.”

“He’s a good guy who gives a lot and wants to do well, always, for the team. There is no problem.”

“But every culture is different. Some South Americans are a bit different to Europeans, Southern Europeans are different to northern Europeans. You have to respect that. That’s why we are a multi-national team.”

“Look, he is hugely influential, Sanchez, but we also had players on the bench who are strikers, who need competition. We were 4-0 up. Ozil as well comes back from sickness so it was a good opportunity not to be stupid.”

Hopefully the Frenchman is right as South American players are almost always the most passionate ones on the pitch. Maybe the internet blew up because of all the speculation regarding Sanchez and his upcoming contract renewal. No matter what happened in South Wales you cannot question Sanchez’s commitment to the Arsenal cause or his desire to win so the situation will likely soon be forgotten.
