Alex Iwobi To Expect Tough Competition

With Sanchez moved up front, Alex Iwobi is the rightful owner of the left wing. Even if Oxlade-Chamberlain is sometimes used on that same side and could pose some competition for the young Gunner, Iwobi is still the number one choice. He is growing into a reliable player and has claimed the spot in Wenger’s lot despite being only 20 years old. This will be the perfect time to bring in someone just as young and just as promising in order to create both positive rivalry and also have a backup during what will be a very long season.

According to Squawka, Iwobi might be fighting for his spot in the team as soon as this winter when Wenger plans on making an offer for Galatasaray winger Bruma. The 21-year-old has been scouted by Arsenal for a while now and it looks like the perfect moment for a bid is quickly approaching. The Portugal international has refused to extend his contract with Galatasaray and is looking to leave despite being under contract until 2018. Currently he is under negotiation with his club which is looking to slap a £22million price tag on their prized possession. These kinds of agreements are not that uncommon so if Bruma does sign a new deal that does not necessarily mean he will stay in Turkey.

The young left-winger has been with Galayasaray since 2013 but his market value dropped a bit and he lost some of the wow factor he had when he was 18 but gained experience from two very important championships (Bruma also played for Sociedad as he was sent on loan). Given Arsenal’s current squad situation and the changes that might come (Giroud might leave and Welbeck will return), Bruma would be a good investment to make. He might not be worth £22million, but he is surely around 1/3rd of that. He is very similar in style to Sadio Mane, he has excellent speed and is very versatile, being able to move from the left side of the pitch to the right with much ease. He can pass very well and he is very inventive when it comes to his dribbling abilities. He has the right skills for Arsenal and he looks well adapted to a 4-2-1-3 formation.

As we said before, he would be just the right competition for Iwobi – not too good to push him away but not that bad as to allow the Nigerian to start slacking. If rumors are true, Arsenal will have to compete with Tottenham to sign the youngster who did mention that he is keen on playing in the Premier League someday.
