According To Poll, Fans Want Wenger Out

According to Metro, Arsene Wenger is losing the confidence of the fans, as a recent poll suggested 63% of the supporters want the manager to leave at the end of the season, despite the club offering him a new contract.

The current season is testament to Wenger’s long spell at Arsenal. After taking over the reigns at Arsenal in 1996, the manager won three Barclays Premier League crowns, four FA Cups and four Community Shield crowns in the span of a 8 years. However, after that period, Wenger has not won a single trophy for the Gunners. While the other clubs have spent more than £1 billion since 2005 on players, Arsenal have spent very little on new signings. Part of the reason being the move from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium, the supporters understand the expenses, but did expect the club to perform much better under the experienced manager.

Wenger had been linked with the job at Paris Saint Germain when Carlo Ancelotti left the job for Real Madrid. A transfer kitty that included a £42.5 million move for Mesut Ozil convinced the manager to stay. However, Wenger has yet not accepted Arsenal’s contract extension, as his current deal expires in the summer.
