Abou Diaby To Get One Last Chance With Arsenal

A lot of speculation started to emerge after Wenger was asked what Diaby’s situation is. The now 28 year old midfielder is close to ending his contract with Arsenal after 7 years spent at the Emirates. The Frenchman will have to keep his fingers crossed if he hopes to stay with the Gunners though. Despite the fact that Arsenal’s boss told the press that he will sit down with his fellow compatriot, expectations are low. It would be a miracle to see Diaby continue his injury-prone career in London after being unavailable for more than 1200 days of his entire contract. That adds up to more than three years of unavailability which is mind-blowing especially if you consider that most of his injuries obligated him to recover for about 100 days. He might have well missed all 8 years of contract if some injuries did not overlap.

According to the Daily Express, hearing Wenger say that he is going to sit down and talk business with Diaby this March, gives some hope to the Frenchman who has little chances of finding a new team. Even though he should be commended for his determination and his courage, things do not look good for the defensive midfielder who was expected to become the next Patrick Vieira. Unfortunately his career followed the path of players like Wes Brown, Darren Anderton and Owen Hargreaves who have made Premier League history with their endless injury streaks.
