Currently Arsenal are sort of trailing when it comes to this summer’s transfer balance. Out of the top six title contenders, the Gunners are 5th in terms of spending. Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool are on the podium with City being 4th. Chelsea and United are very likely to stop. City might continue spending but there’s no big investment they need to make as they have all positions covered very well. According to Team Talk, Arsenal have to decide if the money goes to the defense or to the attack. The Funny thing is that both top notch options come from the same team. Napoli is very likely the team that takes the Gunners over the top. The main target is obviously Higuain who has proven to be a phenomenal striker. Scoring 38 goals in the Championship that is known as being the best at creating impeccable defenses is really something. One can only imagine what Higuain would do in the Premier League. Even though the latest news showed that Napoli’s owner was ironically encouraging other clubs to bid for Higuain, a proper offer could just do the trick. A proper offer could also involve other players as well, not just money. It is expected that €60million plus a player should do the trick. If this ever happens, Arsenal will very likely be the biggest spender of the summer.
The other player in which Arsenal might be interested in is Kalidou Koulibaly – €45millon. The thing with Napoli’s center back is that he would not be Wenger’s first choice. Mertesacker will be the new captain and Koscielny is great next to the German defender. It`s tricky though to keep a player who could become the most expensive defender in the world on the bench, just as hard it would be to keep Mertesacker. Honestly, Higuain, despite being more expensive, would be the best choice Wenger could possibly make.
